What does good design research look like?

Design research is an interdisciplinary field of study that seeks to better understand how design works and how it can be improved in practice.

Working with academics from Denmark and the Netherlands, I co-developed the Research Notes initiative: a forum dedicated to improving the quality and impact of design research internationally.

So far, Research Notes has published dozens of papers on a variety of design research topics, from methods and ethics to standards, reporting, and replicability. The forum continues to evolve and expand, seeking to foster inclusive dialogue and collaboration across the design research community.
