About me
My background
Before moving into consultancy, I spent 13+ years working in academia as a design researcher and academic. I have a wealth of research expertise, and I’m an experienced design educator. I love writing, and have written extensively about design for different audiences (read some of my writing here).
I hold a PhD in sustainable systems design, a BEng in product design engineering, and a PG Certificate in academic practice, all from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow.
I have worked with dozens of organisations on challenges ranging from product design to sustainability, systems analysis, and innovation. I also work closely with Defankle Innovation as an Associate. Have a look at some of my work here.

My approach
Design-led
At its core, design is a problem solving strategy that centres human needs to create solutions that are desirable, feasible, and viable.
Design thinking is at the heart of everything I do, and I’m a firm believer that design can add value at all levels of your business – from products and services, up to processes, culture, and strategy.
Systems-oriented
I want to help businesses improve their systems literacy so that they can innovate and thrive in an increasingly complex world.
Systems thinking is integral to my approach, and I can help you make sense of the economic, social, and ecological factors at play in today’s market and regulatory environment.
Collaborative
Did you know that friendly chickens are more productive than aggressive chickens? I believe we can achieve more by working together.
Strong collaborative partnerships are important to me. I am honest and open about what I can achieve, and I will seek out the expertise and resources needed to address your challenges.
